McKinelyville

McKinleyville is actually the location of the Eureka/Arcata airport and is about 10-20 minutes north on Hwy 101 from these respectively, and about the same south of Trinidad.

There is a motel and car rental at the McKinleyville airport but most of the other conveniences are back a couple freeway exits south in the downtown area .

The Mad River and its Estuary are at the south end of McKinleyville before you actually get into the city and birdwatchers and fishermen alike find plenty to keep them occupied.

When traveling slow down when you get close to McKinleyville because Cal Trans is woking on building one bridge over the river and taking down another lower one and the exit to McKinleyville to the east going north and staying to the left between barricades can be a little tight.
