Economic Summit The annual Economic Summit hosted by the Crescent City/Del Norte Chamber of Commerce will be held this year on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the Elk Valley Rancheria Community Hall starting at 8:30 am with donuts and coffee-formal speaking presentations to follow-lunch will be provided and the meeting will conclude at 3:30 pm. Well be gathering at the North Coast Environmental Center, located at 575 H Street in Arcata. Meeting will begin at 7:00pm. Refreshments provided. Event is free. Coastwalk is seeking outdoor enthusiasts and hikers to join Coastwalk as Day Hike Coordinators, Trail Stewards, Adopt-A-Beach Captains, and Outreach & Event Coordinators in Humboldt County. Help organize trail projects in your community, or coordinate a National Trails Day hike. Coordinate a monthly beach clean-up project, organize a National Coastal Clean-up Day event in your area, or help Coastwalk teach local school kids about the importance of coastal and environmental stewardship. February 19 41st Annual World Championship Crab Races

The 41st Annual World Championship Crab Races will take place on Sunday, February 19th from 11:00am to 4:00pm at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds in Crescent City. Live Dungeness Crabs are coaxed by human jockeys in an effort to scurry home with the title of Worlds Fastest Crab. There will be open competition as well as invitational challenge races (real estate, banks, schools, etc.). Competitors can bring their own racing crabs (crabs on steroids will not be allowed to compete!) or hire a certified rent-a-crab from the local racing pool for just $1.00. The race entry fee, per crab, is $2.00 One of the highlights of the Championships is the incomparable Del Norte County Crab Feed: cold, pre-cracked Dungeness Crab, fresh from the Pacific. The crab will be accompanied by coleslaw and assorted breads from local bakeries. Full crab dinners are $15.00, half dinners are $8.00. For those who cant bring themselves to eat the entertainment, there will be hot dogs and sausages from Taylor Sausages of Cave Junction, Oregon. A hot dog or sausage meal with potato chips and a drink will be just $4.00. The crabs wont be the only prize winners during the festivities as there will be lots of great raffle prizes up for grabs at $1.00 per ticket (an arm length for $20) for the two legged set. The host for the World Championship Crab Races is the Crescent City/Del Norte Chamber of Commerce. CHRISTMAS LIGHT PARADE & TREE LIGHTING

More than 50 lighted entries parade through the streets of Crescent City; Christmas tree lighting. Cars, trucks, fire engines, floats and animals all lit up with holiday lights march through the streets of Crescent City to welcome Santa and on the way to lighting the City's Christmas Tree.
